BOIL WATER ADVISORY LIFTED

It is no longer necessary to boil your tap water before use.

The Town of Stuart Waterworks, in coordination with the Virginia Department of Health – Office of Drinking Water (VDH-ODW), has lifted the boil water advisory issued on April 23, 2026 for the area south of Ashby Drive, including Wayside Drive and Patrick County High School. Tap water is once again safe for drinking, cooking, and all other uses.

What We Did

Following repair of the watermain break at Ashby Drive, the affected portion of the system was chlorinated and flushed. Two consecutive bacteriological samples were collected and analyzed by a state-certified laboratory. Both samples confirmed the absence of total coliform bacteria and E. coli. VDH-ODW has concurred with lifting the advisory based on these results.

Recommended Steps Before Resuming Normal Use

To clear any standing water from your household plumbing, customers in the affected area are encouraged to take these simple steps:

• Run the cold water tap nearest your water meter (or the kitchen sink) for 3–5 minutes until the water runs clear and cool.
• Empty and refill ice makers; discard any ice made during the advisory.
• Run dishwashers and washing machines through one empty cycle.
• Replace any in-line water filters (refrigerator, faucet, pitcher) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
