POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Coordinator serves as the Town’s lead coordinator for community events and special programs, a key liaison among Town administration, local businesses, and community organizations, and a source of administrative and project support to the Town Manager and Clerk/Treasurer. This is a highly public-facing, full-time role with significant event-planning and logistics responsibility and seasonal peaks in workload.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Starting salary of $49,000 per year, negotiable based on qualifications and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes Town-paid health insurance (the Town pays 100% of the premium for employee-only coverage), a retirement plan, twelve paid holidays, and paid annual (vacation) and sick leave.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Town-sponsored and Town-supported events — including the Strawberry Festival, Apple Dumpling Festival, Spooktacular, the Christmas Parade, and the Farmers Market — including layout and vendor-space planning, vendor and volunteer coordination, and event logistics.
- Administer recurring Town programs and initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison to the Town’s uptown and downtown business districts and to community and regional organizations.
- Maintain the Town website and social media accounts; post public notices, event announcements, and Town information.
- Provide administrative and project support to the Town Manager and Clerk/Treasurer, including meeting and public-notice support, document preparation, and grant and project recordkeeping.
- Provide front-line customer service and route citizen service requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience in event planning or coordination and in public-facing customer service.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project-management skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office; and the ability to learn specialized software.
- Experience with website and social media content management, and with municipal government, is desirable.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for Town events and public meetings.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
